The accelerator we were in is about to fuck us over due to inflexibility.

Confessions·May 22, 201417

Investor here. I happen to only invest in companies run by men. Want to know something else? IT’S. MY. MONEY. How I spend or invest it is not YOUR or anyone else’s business.

Confessions·May 21, 20147

I cry, on the inside, every morning when I think about how much further I need to go just to get to the first major milestone, yet I push on.

Confessions·May 20, 201420

Am I the only one who wants to start a company for the sake of building a company I’d love to work in? It seems everyone is after exits. That doesn’t seem too sustainable.

Confessions·May 20, 20147

I went to a Fireside chat with a co-founder of a prominent e-commerce discount furniture site and they kept reiterating how scrappy they were for starting the company with less than $100k. Please, $100k is not scrappy. STFU.

Confessions·May 19, 20149

At the airport, heading on a sales trip for my own company and I can’t help but smile. Finally decided to stop talking about ideas and actually implement one. That was three years ago and it’s still amazing what that decision has afforded me.

Confessions·May 19, 20145

I can’t bear to think about our competitors as I am so angry they are achieving what we’re not (they have 10s of millions of dollars investment and we have none). I live only with the hope that our business model is unique enough to beat them.

Confessions·May 16, 20143

Hire a startup attorney. Not a business attorney, a STARTUP attorney. It will save you money. I nearly had to pay taxes on over $250k of unrealized income, because things weren’t filed properly after our seed round by the wrong attorney.

Confessions·May 16, 201415

We did development for a big company as a way to get money while we grow our product. It’s been 6 months and, in spite of having a contract, they haven’t paid. And I think they never will. The worst part: I already paid 20k in taxes over this contract.

Confessions·May 15, 20146

I’m as passionate about social issues and politics as I am entrepreneurship. What about you– are you socially driven?

Confessions·May 15, 20145

Unless you have had previous success, nobody is going to believe you can pull it off until you actually do. Show, don’t tell. Telling is a waste of time.

Confessions·May 14, 20143

Finally doing things my way… and nothing makes me realize more how wrong people in my industry are doing things. I find humor in their ignorance.

Confessions·May 14, 20149

I have a competition in me. I want no other startup to succeed. I hate most VCs. There are times when I … I look at companies and see nothing worth liking. I see the worst in startups. I don’t need to look past seeing them to get all that I need.

Confessions·May 13, 20146

Quit talking about a tech bubble, tech media. You’re going to scare the greater fools and then we’ll all be fucked — you included. Sincerely, those that keep you employed.

Confessions·May 13, 201421

You don’t need to sacrifice your life, overwork, not sleep and suffer to build a successful startup. I bootstrapped a successful company working 6-7 hours a day, not stressing, and having lots of fun.

Confessions·May 12, 201414

Thanks, ERA (Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator) for not accepting my startup. You aren’t best choice but we felt we needed something & had to move now or we’d keep waffling. Now we’re in the #1 accelerator; wouldn’t have happened if you didn’t dump us.

Confessions·May 11, 20148

I’ve finally realized that when something doesn’t interest me, I’m lazy as hell. When it’s something that I care about, I have the energy of 20 people. This is the reason I’m an entrepreneur.

Confessions·May 8, 20144

I put in $180k and three years and recently walked away. I was totally burned out, and while the business model was still valid in my mind, I realized that I was now the road block. I stopped work immediately. My health is a wreck and my credit rating is bad enough that I have little chance of finding an apartment in SF, especially with my dog. I have been staying at a friend’s place for a year and have well extended my stay.

Confessions·May 8, 201421

If I had the kind of traction you wanted, then I wouldn’t need to be going to ANGEL investors. Why do the angel investors in Texas suck ass? They want at least 100K users and/or 200K in revenue.

Confessions·May 8, 20145

I knew my startup would fail, because as a founding team we are completely dysfunctional. Yet, I stayed and worked for over a year because I really like my co-founders. Now I think it’s time to go, but I’m not sure how to break the news.

Confessions·May 7, 201426

If you have no money to hire/keep a good developer, don’t startup. Only one good thing can happen. You can loose weight. I lost 7 Kgs in last 15 days due to 20 hours of work, no money to eat healthy, and I walk a lot as I can’t afford gas for my car.

Confessions·May 7, 201413

The interview between Sophia Amoruso and Alexis Tsotsis at TC Disrupt was really awkward. Looked like there was tension between the two of them.

Confessions·May 7, 201411

I’ve been working nights and weekends for equity on two early-stage startup that I helped found. I get frustrated every time I have to work on one of them, and get frustrated every time I can’t work on the other. Time for a change….

Confessions·May 4, 201417

An investor that has a term sheet on the table with my company just showed up interested in me on Tinder *awkward*

Confessions·May 4, 201417

I recently got into an accelerator, and was shocked to find out the founder of one of the other teams in my batch used a portion of the money he got to buy himself an Audi. I hope he fails fast.

Confessions·May 2, 20142

Too much hype in the tech sector.

Confessions·May 2, 201413

Invested $80K of my own money. 3 1/2 years later still working on the project. Can’t launch! I know I’m pushing it.

Confessions·May 1, 201415

You know that shitty feeling you get when one of your competitors is covered in the press and they don’t mention you as the competitor. Yeah, that happened today. I wanna scream.

Confessions·May 1, 20145

Just got laid off, finally going to take the leap and pursue an idea I’ve had for awhile with a good friend of mine.

Confessions·Apr 30, 20148

Spent 2.5 years trying to turn an idea into a business. Only took 2.5 months to turn a side project into a business when I wasn’t even trying. Solve your own problems and a business will find you. – @danerobert, SA
