Mentors, Entrepreneurs, and ADHD… oh my!

So I’m using Founder Dating (super dumb name, btw) to hunt for local people who might be open to a mentorship. I find a person who seems ok, so we schedule a call. The call goes well enough so we plan for a quick meeting in the next week or so. Quick meeting leads to a rather long conversation where I’m being pitched to join the mentor’s startup. Go home to consider it, call the next day to talk a bit more about expectations, and she’s mostly revoked the offer. Honestly, what the hell is that? Not sure if this is ADHD, person is a total flake, or just intentionally manipulative for kicks.

I guess the good news is that I’ve eliminated one person from my potential mentor pool?

Good you do not need toxic mentors.

Entrepreneurs are slightly crazy. Some more so than others.

That's so odd. I've had a generally good experience with FD. The 1st was a mentor pitching me to mentor me for a monthly retainer (fuck that), the 2nd was a pleasant meeting with a prominent person in the space who has scaled companies and loves to work with young entreprenuers and the 3rd was more of a peer level networking meeting opportunity. The 2nd & 3rd meetings were so great that they made up for the 1st.

OP here: I'm holding out hope for meetings like your 2nd and 3rd!

Thanks for proof that there is a upside to FD.
