Startups – let’s remember the positive

SA needs to show the positive spin on entrepreneurship. Yes, it’s a roller coster of emotions. Yes, many of us here are under the shadows of tech SC/VC hype who work hard and only move a few inches a week. Yes, it’s freaking frustrating when you see someone else do something similar and get all the glory. We started our own ventures because we feel we can make a difference.

And that, while it’s easy to be disenchanted and discouraged by what we read and see in the press, we need to remember that true success and greatness takes years. That is our job to lay the groundwork to make that happen.

Why?

The positive spin is already everywhere - the Google and Facebook founders with their (rightfully) smug faces and billions.

This provides the counter-balance.

I agree. It's easier for most people to share success than failure and weakness. SA gives us a safer environment for the latter.
