What do I do with the MVP Developers?

I did a deal with a dev company -1 resource in particular – to create the MVP. It’s gone well so far but this techie has taken a job overseas (4 days a week for 6 months). My launch is time sensitive – it either goes live in 3 months or I have missed the boat by 1 year.

The deal is his company either gets paid for the MVP or takes 30% equity (and I don’t have money to pay them yet). My concern is that it looks like they won’t be supporting further development for much longer. There’s no funding on the horizon so I need equity to incentivize new devs. The only problem is that the pie keeps getting smaller for people with no contribution to the long game. What do I do?

30% seems a lot to me, yet I don't know how extensive development of the MVP is.

Any chance you could find the money in the family, through a loan or some type of funding?

If not, always think "100% of nothing" is less than "x % of something".
