I’ve run my own fitness and health business for 17 years, and tried my hand at several ventures. I’ve employed, on and off, 14 freelance Trainers. The strong passion I once had for my business and industry has faded, and now at 45 I’m lost as to what to do, moving forward.
As a personal service business, I’ve made the mistake of revolving the business around me personally. I want to start afresh outside the industry, but I’m worried I have no ‘provable’ milestones on which to sell myself to future employers. I need security and more stable income, but have no idea what I could base a new business on, outside this industry.
My skillset is diverse, and while I know I have a lot of transferable skills, working in the fitness industry is not necessarily seen as particularly ‘intellectual’ to many would-be employers.
Has anyone else lost the passion for their business and moved on, knowing that they can’t regain this passion within their industry, however much they try? How did you leave one familiar industry for something new?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
