Protect the code

Let’s say you invested a few months developing a widget, it’s working and now it’s time to put it out there and start collect sweet and generous revenues.

Once the code is triggered by a script, how can you safely ensure that no one will give the code away after one download? Do you know any software to generate a security key to be activated only once after you download the widget?

Have you tried obfuscation ?

You could hard code a whitelist of authorised websites and obfuscate your code with an automated obfuscator.

Of course, it's not a perfect protection.

What do you mean by widget? Like, on a website? Javascript?
