How to repair investor relationship?

We got accelerator funding and were doing well for awhile. Got burned out. Going to shut down now.

I didn’t stay in touch with investors like I should have – always thought I’d have better news at the next update. How do I repair the relationship in case I need funding in the future?

Come completely clean, I guess: tell them why you didn't want to tell them. They will tell you you should have kept them informed, and they are right. If you don't tell them anything or will lie to them, your chances of a future relationship will be very small (and rightly so).
