How prevalent are drugs in Silicon Valley?

I haven't spent much time in SF, but the time that I have it seemed rather tame. Very little nightlife and a lot of focus.

Then you hear stories of founders going to investor meetings high, cocaine coding sessions … all andecdotal.

What's the reality like?

I suppose that there are some people who get high, and others who don't.

Pot and alcohol are pretty prevalent but harder drugs aren't commonly used.

If the Apple Beats deal turns out to be BS, apparently Dr. Dre's in that basement as well.

Drugs are not prelavent in Silicon Valley -- except caffeine. That has been my experience. Who needs drugs when you can be addicted to work? That is the truth. People work really hard, day and night, often weekends in the Valley.
