I don't think it will in Silicon Valley. Maybe in other parts of the country that are more conservative it might. Keep in mind that Peter Thiel, who is one of Silicon Valley's most well known people is a gay man.

You'd actually be discriminated against less for being gay than for being a minority or a woman in Silicon Valley. If you're a gay white male, then you have it pretty easy in the tech world compared to non-whites or women in general.

You don't have to advertise your sexual preferences to get funding. It doesn't even have to come up in any conversation remotely close to fundraising.

I'm gay, and I see no reason to bring it up in a business context. Boston is unusual though in that personal lives aren't usually discussed much in negotiations, unlike much of the rest of the country; it's considered a bit awkward to do so before you've known someone for a while. I wouldn't go out and try to hide it by talking about your wife instead of partner, but you also don't want to make your pitch about your sexuality anyway, it should be about your company.
