Compensation package for business development person?

Hi,

Have been a BD person in the Digital space for about 10 years - a reasonable package a web design start-up (this is without knowing your geography) would be about 50k base and a 5% commission. Have seen commission as high as 7-8% but with reduced base. The key is getting ongoing commission for additional work from the client not just the initial sale. Base varies on level of experience and where they are located.
