Questions

I built a social media business that is profitable and fun. I am my own boss … but, it’s not what I’m passionate about – should I be concerned?

I don’t care about becoming the next Gary V or Mari Smith – is this a problem?

You sound like you are among the 80% of people make a living by doing something they are not passionate about. Fortunately, you are profitable. For sure, you also make time for your passions. Perhaps, in time, your passions can become profitable too.

Perhaps time to plan an exit strategy, if you have an idea around your passion that could also become a business. Or then make your passion a hobby.

Scott Adams in How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Succeed praises a friend of his who is in this exact situation.

He explicitly says, "passion is bullshit."

It's worth a read at about $8 for a great change of mental models.

Depends on what your priorities are. My gut reaction is yes. I'd be concerned. Passion is not bullshit at all. You can have all the money in the world and still be miserable if your not doing what you love. Step back and take your salary OR sell you company and do what you love. Life really is way too short to not do what you love.

You say its fun, isn't that part of passion?

Just do something else. Life is too short to not have fun with it.
