Having worked corporate/enterprise, and now three startup jobs in a row, I have no faith in the startup mythos of cutting-edge tech or openness to innovation anymore, especially coming out of “tech startups”.

Tech startups are the ultimate hypocrites. Case in point the "sharing economy".
Google started this BS with "don't be evil". Before google everyone knows a business is to make money not change the world or some shit.
Sharing and altruism is always for the other guy, yes most human gatherings are "circle jerks".
Remember this - ALL humans have a default setting: "people always do what is in Their short term interest without regard to the effect on others" .
Do not be swayed by people who claim different they are either in default mode or a sociopath going " all in" for your chips. @kaffegeek
I think these "confessions" would be a lot more useful if the confessor also provided examples, or context. Otherwise this isn't a useful post for anyone than the poster who feels they have got something off their chest. The rest of us have no idea what they were even talking about.

It sounds like you're ready to work on a farm. Better learn how to operate a tractor.
The difference between a tractor and the "revolutionary" product infrastructure that our CTO designed is that if a tractor doesn't work you can repair it.
