Why do people lie in sales?

A product should accelerate itself . Think: Flappy Bird.

Name names! Your post is kinda useless otherwise.

I was lied to about the average follow up funding, both size and its past success ratio but, at the end, found 3rd party data to verify their claims.

German corporate accelerator programme.

Are you guys interested in sharing your experience anonymously @mystartupland?

I have had the same experience, and got fed up with it.

Omg people lie in sales pitches! How could they!

I think Accelerators are no different from incubators, and other stuff like it. They sell hope based on their successes not their failures. The thing I am seeing is far too many startups drink the kool aid, and just think some stuff will be handed to them. Now, I don't know about Germany, but in the USA, there are some here which are the cat's meow, based on the success of the few, not the majority of the startups they accept. In fact, for most it seems for ever 10 they accept, only 2 or 3 succeed. But of course success means many different things, here it means over valuation and millions of users, for example Yo and Secret. Both now a memory.

Cos that's start-up culture...exaggerate till you get funding...then good luck to survive.

so true...one USA startup got desperate for expanding data base of users so went to cheap countries to lure ppl in signing up for it in return for some freebies. For sure none of these people will ever contribute to the real growth, but Investors wanted numbers. I hope they will realize soon how fake the numbers were.

If you think deeper, it's a scam.
