I remind myself that I could always go back and work with people I despised as human beings and had no respect for, and how much I want to buy the houses next to where they live and provide them as free housing for the local homeless population

Sorry for you, but you will never succeed. You can search worldwide, nobody became rich with such mentality. You won't find any single example of someone who became rich then took a revenge.
You are definitely on the wrong path. Change your mind and you may succeed. Keep going and you will be a poor nobody forever. And you will probably never understand why.
