If your stake in the company is small and they don't look like they're heading for a big exit, then yes, definitely get out. If your stake in the company is large and they don't look like they're heading for a big exit, get out. Only stay if you feel like the company is headed somewhere.
3 years is too long for a non-founder if the company hasn't made any big moves.
Agreed with first poster. Unless you have a significant stake in it, its not worth it. I spent 10 years chasing my OWN startup and its not worth it either. If I could do it again, I would've given up way earlier - but I'm a dumbass. Cie la vie.

I say this often. If you are in it to make money get out ASAP or else you will regret it.
People think startups are money makers there not. You join a startup because you think that what they are doing is unique and has a purpose.
First rule to startups is listen to your gut. It knows you better then you think.
