I used to not hold a coworker accountable because I liked her. Now that I don’t, and hold her to the same level as my peers, I’m fearing backlash.

I thought I was the only one. One of my co-workers is a disaster, he misses work a lot, spends half the day on Facebook when he's in, and doesn't seem very committed to work. The thing is I had a secret crush on him for a long time, so I pretty much defended him or overlooked his attitude. Since that crush faded, I came to be really angry at him, and have realized how unprofessionally he behaves.

"and have realized how unprofessionally he behaves"

Hmm, the irony.

Can you explain the joke?

I'm the one who wrote, lol. Basically the story is that an employee named Julie Ann Horvath who worked at Github but quit a few days ago was according to her statements, subjected to backlash and intimidation because she rejected the advances of a high level engineering employee at Github.

Also as the first woman working at Github the wife of one of the founders saw her as a threat and would show up to sit next to her desk even though she didn't work at Github.

You can read about the whole story here:
