I should be composing an email to my team about company financials but I’m just googling “how to have owls as pets”

Aha. The blank page. A white screen, and the attracting title is there: "Company financials". Every recipient will read this with appetite for good news, for sure! But what to put in it ? It must be true, and it must be positive, and it must be rewarding, and it must be motivating... For sure you need inspiration. The great one. I'm not surprised you are googling how to have owls as pets. This email should contain some of the magic from Harry Potter. So why not ? Maybe you will find the right metaphor for your financial report googling this way.

Don't feel guilty about this. Your brain is just looking for inspiration in unexpected places. It's part of your job. You will understand that when you will find a link between your final text and one of the various useless things you did during this inspirational procrastination time.

Dude, you could have been me. I just procrastinated by watching the new episodes of Silicon Valley.

Anyhow, first off I think that it is ok to delay stuff sometimes.

As founders we are under constant pressure to work all the time, harder and harder. But you must not forget to make time for yourself and rest up so you can load your batteries and start later with all the power you have.

Maybe your mind just wants to tell you to slow down once in a while.

Second, the task of "Write a Mail about the company Financial" may be too big of a task.

Try breaking it down into smaller, actionable tasks such as "Compile all the metrics", "Align the numbers" or "Write the opening/closing sentence". This can get you on the road with small wins.

PS: I also want an owl. Got any resources to share?

replace "company financials" with "income statements and balance sheet", and that's what I'm doing right now.

I wish I could hug a panda

That's better than masturbating everytime I procrastinate.

Same boat, but I ended up doing a company meeting instead followed by open Q&A. It was important to me that I got to read / see ppl's faces (since I wasn't sharing good news). And so I can address concerns for everyone.

It's my first time on the site and my first comment. You made me laugh and made my day. I literally actually just LOL, People looked up from their desks at me. I can't really give you any advice on this one because I actually think we must be related.
