Dumb VC : Your tech is pure sci-fi, your market is 85B$++, you have strong traction and your team is made of rockstars, we acknowledge all that. But the excel projection you made up is not cool enough. We won’t invest. Me : FUUUUUUUUUUUUU

VCs don't give you the real reason they reject you. They don't want to hurt your feelings or because they've made a gut level decision they can't articulate. Even the best VCs have a terrible batting average: they reject good companies and fund sure losers time and time again. So don't take it so personally. Tweak your deck and come up with excel numbers that show how the VCs are going to get a great return on their investment.

Yeah to the comment above mine. Even if that VC was a narcissist, then not giving you money was doing you a favor.

Define traction

VC's never like to fully close a door. Let's be honest, they really don't know if they're making the right decision or not. They do this because 1. They don't want to look stupid for making the wrong decision and 2. They want to be able to invest in the future when they find out they were wrong.

They'll use any non-threatening excuse they can other than the real reason (which is always just gut call).

Don't sweat it. Prove them wrong and you'll regain the power.
